Burning forests, overwhelmed oceans – 2024 is a turning point for the climate. Europe needs solutions, not excuses. The new platform TransformIT Europe aims to deliver exactly that.

The latest data from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) are alarming: Never before has the concentration of CO₂ in the atmosphere been as high as in 2024 – and never before has it risen so sharply. Compared to 2023, the concentration increased by 3.5 ppm – a new negative record.
CO₂ Emissions are Stagnating, but the Earth is Storing Less
It is remarkable that global CO₂ emissions from the combustion of coal, oil, and gas remained almost at the previous year’s level (approximately 10.2 gigatons of carbon or 37 gigatons of CO₂). Nevertheless, the proportion in the atmosphere continues to rise.
The reason: Natural CO₂ sinks, i.e., oceans and forests, are increasingly losing their storage capacity.
Warmer oceans absorb less CO₂. Wildfires in the Amazon basin and southern Africa additionally release billions of tons. Drought and heat stress weaken forests so severely that they sometimes release more CO₂ than they store.
These processes led to an additional 8.4 gigatons of CO₂ emissions in 2024 – around 13 times as much as Germany caused in the same year.
The Consequences: Accelerated Warming and Tipping Points in Sight
The current fact sheet from the German Meteorological Society (DMG) and the German Physical Society (DPG), presented at the Extreme Weather Congress and the German Climate Management Days, comes to a dramatic conclusion: Should the trend continue, it would be a massive turning point – with profound consequences for ecosystems, economy, and society.
Why the New Platform TransformIT Europe is Now Crucial
Against this backdrop, the importance and urgency of European cooperation and innovation for a sustainable future become clear.
TransformIT Europe positions itself as a new conference and trade fair platform for sustainable transformation, GreenTech, and Green Business.
Here, decision-makers from business, science, politics, and media meet to discuss practical solutions for decarbonization, resource efficiency, and digital sustainability.
The goal is to bring the European Green Deal to life – through concrete projects, innovations, and partnerships that make CO₂ reduction measurable and promote sustainable growth.
TransformIT Europe in Brussels Creates Central Platform in the Heart of Europe
The new CO₂ data is a wake-up call. They show that technological innovation, sustainable economic practices, and political determination are not a vision of the future, but a European survival strategy.
Platforms like TransformIT Europe create the space for this – and are thus a central building block for the sustainable transformation of our continent.
