While the US under Donald Trump is once again trying to pressure Europe to loosen its climate and nature protection regulations, it’s long been about more than just trade issues.

It’s about our future – clean air, intact ecosystems, and a digital transformation that is in harmony with the environment and humanity. Trump wants to export fossil fuels as if it were still 1990. But Europe must not allow itself to be pushed back into fossil dependence.
Every additional ton of oil and gas we import undermines the hard-won progress of our Green Deal policy – and jeopardizes the vision of a climate-neutral, just Europe. At the same time, Brussels sends an important
Signal: The EU explicitly commits to protecting air, water, and nature.
That’s a step in the right direction – but it’s not enough. Behind the scenes, fossil fuel supply contracts are still being negotiated with the US. This is precisely where we, as society, business, and science, must collectively take action.
Act Now, Don’t Wait
Our friends at WeMove have launched an important petition on this: action.wemove.eu/sign/2025-10-trump-trade-deal-petition-DE.
The appeal is clear: It calls for the rejection of the EU-US trade agreement in its current form. Over 85,000 Europeans have already spoken out for a fair, green Europe. But that’s not enough.
We must use the digital tools of our time – to develop sustainable technologies, secure fair value chains, and strengthen Europe’s voice in the global discourse.
Invitation: European Solutions for a Sustainable Digital Future at TransformIT Europe 2026
The highly motivated TransformIT Europe team is convinced: Sustainable digital transformation can only succeed together – through European cooperation, innovation, and responsibility.
That’s why, in May 2026, we invite all relevant stakeholders from politics, business, research, and civil society to Brussels to promote and develop common European solutions for a green, digital future.
Our goals are:
- End fossil dependencies and deploy digital technologies in line with climate goals.
- Strengthen European data and energy networks to foster sustainability, sovereignty, and resilience.
- Scale green innovations that benefit the environment and society – from Green AI to Circular Tech.
Only by pooling knowledge, resources, and political leverage can Europe become a global role model for a fair, digital, and climate-neutral transformation.
